Fox In Socks! Dartmouth Names Its Medical School After Dr. Seuss
Millions of Dr. Seuss fans are grateful for his cute pictures and great rhymes, but Dartmouth University is also grateful for his donations.
Dr. Seuss — whose real name was Theodor Geisel (Dartmouth Class of 1925) — liked to share his wealth with his alma mater, where he edited the humor magazine, the Jack-O-Lantern, until he was caught drinking gin.
In return, this week the New Hampshire college officially renamed its medical school “The Audrey and Theodor Geisel School of Medicine” in honor of the author and his second wife, a nurse, who is the 90-year-old curator of her late husband’s works. Love the Seuss!

When Scientists Get Accidentally Artsy

Smithsonian museum specialist Sandra Raredon has been making radiographs, or X-ray images, for some 25 years. And although she doesn’t necessarily consider herself an artist, per se, she’s not surprised to see her work on display in that context. “I wanted people to see that they’re not only scientific, but they’re beautiful as well,” she says on the phone.

Because nature is awesome.

No martyrs here... →

It’s about damn time! Thankfully, someone thought far enough ahead to bury the bastard himself in an unmarked grave, though I’m pretty sure his parents didn’t intend to raise one of the most villonous men in history. Never forget the wrong we do into ourselves, for if we can over come the worst, we can make ourselves the best.

This current war on women is very disheartening and frankly, quite offensive. Why are they trying to take our rights to choose what we do with our bodies away from us?

Both inspiring, and potentially apocalyptic. I love it.

Elephants deserve a day at the beach too.

I think I’m going to melt. I love animals.

I hope this ends up being as intense as it looks. I have fallen in love with Noomi Rapapace and I have no doubt she will add to the rich life that has flourished since the first movie came out.

Listen to the conversations around you — colleagues at the office, customers in the coffeehouse line, those who serve you, those you serve, the people you meet each day. “Give me a tall latte.” “Hand me that hammer.” “Have a good one.”

Notice anything missing? The traditional magic words “please” and “thank you” that many people learn as children appear to be disappearing.
